aftercare
Option 1: Second skin
-
1. Bandage (Second Skin)
Leave the bandage on for 3-4 days, unless it begins peeling or lifting.
If the bandage starts coming off early, remove it immediately and begin the aftercare routine.
To remove: use soap and water to gently loosen and peel it off. -
2. First Day Without Bandage
Wash your tattoo well with clean hands.
Always use antibacterial liquid hand soap (not bar soap, no scents, no dyes).
I recommend: Dial Gold.
Keep the tattoo clean and dry — no lotion or ointments on the first day. -
3. Two-Week Aftercare Routine
Wash the tattoo at least twice a day with antibacterial liquid soap.
Moisturize 3–4 times a day with a thin layer of unscented, dye-free lotion.
I recommend: Curel. -
4. Protection & Hazards
Do not pick or scratch your tattoo. Itching and peeling are normal.
Avoid soaking in water (pools, baths, hot tubs) and avoid direct sunlight during healing.
If exposed to hazards (gym equipment, pet dander, dirt, etc.): wash your tattoo as soon as possible and cover with loose, clean clothing
Signs of infection: increased redness, swelling, pain, heat, pus, streaking — see a medical professional immediately.
Option 2: pads
-
1. BANDAGE (BABY PADS)
Keep the baby pad on until morning.
-
2. First Day Without Bandage
Remove and throw it away (do not reuse).
Wash gently with clean hands and unscented antibacterial liquid soap (not bar soap).
I recommend: Dial Gold.Pat dry with a clean paper towel — do not rub.
Keep the tattoo clean and dry for the rest of the first day (no lotion yet).
•
If the tattoo is still oozing, replace with a fresh, clean pad 2 times for 1-3 days
-
3. Two-Week Aftercare Routine
Wash the tattoo twice daily with antibacterial soap.
Apply a thin layer of unscented, dye-free lotion 3–4 times a day.
I recommend: Curel.
Do not over-moisturize — the skin should breathe.
-
4. Protection & Hazards
Do not leave a pad on too long, especially if heavily saturated — it becomes a bacteria trap.
Do not pick, peel, or scratch the tattoo.
Avoid soaking (pools, baths, hot tubs) and keep out of direct sunlight.
If exposed to dirt, sweat, pets, or gym equipment: wash the tattoo as soon as possible and cover with loose, clean clothing.
Signs of infection: increased redness, swelling, pain, heat, pus, streaking — see a medical professional immediately.
